Support We Offer

How we provide support

Hinterland Speech Pathology provides support...
  • To adults and teenagers over the age of 17
  • In homes
  • In the community (e.g. workplaces, cafes, libraries and public spaces)
  • In aged care facilities or retirement communities
  • At Maleny Community Centre, upon request

Please note: We travel to different areas each day to support the people we work with. To keep things efficient, we book you in when we're next available (we don’t keep a waitlist!) and group appointments together geographically. Please see our contact page see if our availability aligns with yours!

Funding

NDIS
We currently support plan and self managed participants.

Fees are charged in line with the NDIS price guide limits. 
Medicare rebates
Yes, we support patients who have been referred by their GP to claim a medicare rebate.

A CDM referral is required from your GP before your first Speech Pathology appointment. Please note that an out-of-pocket payment is required between the medicare benefit ($61.80) and session fees ($217 p/h). 
Support at home scheme (previously: home care package)
Yes, we work with a range of Support at Home providers on the Sunshine Coast.

We can provide Assistive Technology, dysphagia and communication support.  

Send us an enquiry to discuss brokering services for residential aged care and in-home care participants.
WorkCover
We are a registered WorkCover provider. We assess and support workers to return to their occupation after injury. 

Supports can include voice therapy, speech and language intervention and swallowing reviews. 
Private Health Insurance
Call your insurer or check their website to understand if your policy covers Speech Pathology services. 

Claims can be made by submitting a paid Speech Pathology invoice via their online claim portal.  
Fee for service
All assessment and therapy sessions are $217 per hour.

Additional time may be needed for travel or report completion.  Costs will be calculated and discussed during intake.
Department of Veteran Affairs (DVA)
We welcome DVA clients. DVA Health funding can be used once we receive a referral from your GP​(a completed D904 form).

How a Speech Pathologist can help

Experienced in supporting people who have difficulty with...
  • Producing clear speech sounds (e.g. dysarthria or apraxia of speech)
  • Saying words fluently (stuttering or stammering)

Hi 👋 my name is Georgia and this is my pup Archie.

I've been working as a Speech Pathologist for the last nine years. Throughout this time I've worked with people from all walks of life and I am passionate about helping people to do what they love to do in life.

My journey at Hinterland Speech Pathology began in 2023 because I wanted to provide our local community with collaborative, affirming and evidence-based care - right where they live and work.

Over the years, I have supported individuals with a wide range of diagnoses to establish meaningful, sustainable communication and mealtime solutions. Some examples include: ​
  • Cerebral Palsy
  • Motor Neuron Disease
  • Aphasia
  • Parkinson’s Disease
  • Muscular Dystrophy
  • Down Syngrome
  • Huntington’s Disease
  • Dementia
  • ​Autism
  • Traumatic Brain Injury 
  • Intellectual Impairment.

I have also completed training and am experienced in:
  • SoundsWrite® Certified
  • LSVT Loud® Certified​
  • PODD Trained
  • Talking Mats Certified
  • Key Word Sign trained
  • Training in the assessment and support of people with lifelong and newly acquired Dysphagia (eating and drinking difficulties). 
  • AAC (communication device) language systems including PECS, PODD, LAMP, Unity, Grid 3/Grid for iPad, TD Snap, Grid 3, Touch Chat, Proloquo2Go and more. 
  • Experience with a range of AAC access systems (low, mid and high cost/tech Assistive Technology), including iPads, dedicated devices and complex access systems (e.g. eye gaze, switch access). My experience includes assessment, prescription and implementation across most systems. ​
  • I also have previous experience working in Positive Behaviour Support (PBS). I regularly supervise and collaborate with PBS Practitioners.
